Falten & Furchen

Klara Schilliger and Valerian Maly live in La Chaux-de-Fonds. They have been working together in the fields of performance art and installation since 1984, often creating references to specific local contexts. With the project «Falten & Furchen», the artist couple seeks direct collaboration with the local population. Views of wrinkled and furrowed faces from faces in the Bernese Oberland and Valais are combined with the morphology of the rocky mountain landscape on the Gemmi Pass. Based on the human facial wrinkles, a wickerwork dwelling is constructed, which is used as a shelter and venue. The shelter was constructed in collaboration with Simon Tschachtli, the Weidenflechtgruppe Salix and Hubert Bienek.

A dwelling is created based on the human folds.
The dwelling serves as a shelter and is also used for events.
